Hialeah woman charged with DUI after crash involving semi-truck carrying rocks on I-75

A Hialeah woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after she caused a crash that shut down the northbound lanes of Alligator Alley in Collier County for several hours early Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.  

The crash occurred around 2:40 a.m. at Interstate 75's mile marker 62, troopers said.

Danielle Himick, 38, was driving when her sedan veered onto the paved shoulder of the roadway and collided with a guardrail, troopers said.

Her vehicle then collided with a semi-truck that was loaded with about 25 tons of rocks, according to the crash report.  

The woman’s sedan rotated and collided with the guardrail a second time while the semi-truck overturned, and the rocks spilled across the northbound lanes, according to FHP.  

The roadway was cleared, and lanes were reopened at 9:02 a.m. and no injuries were reported in the crash, the crash report.  

Himick was booked into the Collier County Jail after her arrest. officials reported.
